President’s Welcome

Welcome, we are so happy to have you here! Whether you are a current member or considering membership we encourage you to explore our new website! Our wonderful industry has so much to offer each of us. When I joined this profession in 2012, I wasn’t sure where my passion was going to take me. I have always had a love of interpersonal relationships and helping people. In my past work life I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, where I found myself working in the public schools helping distracted young learners be successful. As I entered my career in Optics, I instantly loved working with Patients and selecting beautiful eyewear to sell in my dispensary. Naturally during my first year of apprenticeship I joined my husband at an OAM education conference. I loved meeting fellow Opticians, chatting with Corporate Partners, and the education was engaging while also being relevant.  13 years later I find myself with a greater love of our industry. Everyday we get to help people see the world around them, while looking fantastic in their eyewear. What could be better?!
